Offered is this 1911 silver plated ancient trophy. It reads:

‘C’ COMPANY
25th KENSINGTON BATTALION THE LONDON REGIMENT
PRESENTED BY
CAPT. H. W. BARNETT
FOR EFFICIENCY

The back side reads:
WON BY
1911. PTE. J. JOSEPH.
1912. PTE. J. JOSEPH.
1913. PTE. J. JOSEPH.

This style trophy with engraved text is typical of regimental presentation pieces awarded for performance, marksmanship, or discipline.

The inscription identifies it as belonging to “C” Company of the 25th (County of London) Battalion, also known as the Kensington Battalion, part of the London Regiment that saw active duty in World War 1.

Measures Approximately: 6 1/2” to the top of the trophy handles x 9” handle to handle x 5” mouth.

These are authentic antique pieces sourced during my recent buying trip to England. I have been sourcing these wonderful antiques from antique flea markets or from our many established sources for over 12 years.

I purchased my first antique Advertising pot when my husband and I had the wonderful opportunity to live in England in the 1980’s. Our daughter was born there and we enjoyed living in England so much we often went back to visit after returning to the US.

Interestingly, this same daughter’s husbands job moved them to London were we have enjoyed visiting our grandchildren and traveling the countryside antiquing.

On our many visits we have became friends with many of the “diggers” excavating the ancient dumpsites all over the UK and now source thousands of pots from them every year. I still love the charm they add to every room they are placed in.
