This listing is for (1) Antique Advertising VERY RARE Roussel’s Premium Shaving Cream Lidded Pot w/Base that dates to the Civil War era around 1850-1865. This very rare advertising piece from Philadelphia reads: Roussel’s Unrivaled Premium Shaving Cream. Gold & Silver Medals awarded by the Insitute of New York, Philadelphia & Boston. X. Bazin. 166 Chestnut St. Philadelphia.
The lid has beautiful dark transfer with ornate floral graphics. It does have a chip on the top as well as one on the side rim and a few cracks although it’s still very solid. The base also has a chip to the inside rim, which is not seen when on display. Despite the top chip, this beautiful rare pot displays well for being almost 200 years old. Please consider the images as the best part of my description.
Most pots have some level of crazing, may have spots of discoloration, light hairline cracks and minor chips and fleabites that should be considered patina, additions to character and do not detract from its display value. These are expected due to age, use and let’s not forget they were often buried for decades before being dug up and rescued.
I offer substantial savings in shipping costs when multiple items are combined into one package. I will credit any overpayment of postage charged to you after finding the best shipping option.
