Add a piece of early English dairy history to your home with this antique brown creamery jar from Aplin & Barrett Ltd, part of the Western Counties Creameries network in Westbury.
This charming embossed jar dates to the early 1900s and was originally used for cream or dairy products distributed by local creameries across southwest England. The rich amber/brown glass helped protect dairy contents from sunlight and was designed to be returned and reused by customers.
The front of the jar features embossed lettering that reads:
“Western Counties Creameries
Aplin & Barrett Ltd
Westbury”
Pieces like this were once a common sight in rural kitchens and dairies, making them a wonderful collectible for farmhouse decor, rustic vase for dried flowers, or as a nice darker
colored addition to your collection.-
This pot is in great condition with a strong embossing and no chips or cracks. Please view the images for the best description of this pot.
Measures: 4 1/4” tall x 3” at the widest point x 2” diameter at the base.
These authentic antique advertising pots were sourced during my recent buying trip to England. I have been sourcing these wonderful antique pots for over 12 years from sources who are actually digging them up in ancient rubbish sites all over England.
I purchased my first antique Advertising pot when my husband and I had the wonderful opportunity to live in England in the 1980’s. Our daughter was born there and we enjoyed living in England so much we often went back to visit after returning to the US.
On our many visits we have became friends with several of the “diggers” excavating the ancient dumpsites all over the UK and now source thousands of pots from them every year. I still love the charm they add to every room they are placed in.
