This is a listing for one (1) *Extremely Rare* Paulden’s Crockery Department Stretford Road Pie Funnel.  The improved popular pie funnel.  Carries away the stream and leaves the pie crust as light and flaky inside as on the surface. There are small areas of stained crazing inside and out, as well as one larger and one smaller surface chip on the upper rim of the base.  There is also one very small chip at the top of the funnel.

The funnel was inserted into the center of the pie underneath a small hole in the pastry lid.  It allowed for steam to escape from the pie as the filling heated up. This prevented it from bubbling up and breaking the pastry lid.  Additionally, it helped prevent the pie from drying out and kept the filling intact.

Most pots have some level of crazing, may have spots of discoloration, light hairline cracks and minor chips and fleabites that only add to its character and do not detract from its display value.  These are expected due to age, use and, let’s not forget, they were often buried for decades before being dug up and rescued.
