Duncan, Flockhart and Co. Edinburgh Printed Base w/plain Lid – Antique English Advertising Pot

$59.00

Out of stock

This smaller version chemist pot from Duncan, Flockhart & Co. Edinburgh has a printed base with plain lid. Founded in 1833, the firm began as Duncan & Flockhart, with chemists John Duncan and William Flockhart establishing their business in Edinburgh. In 1847, William Flockhart supplied the very first chloroform for human use to Scottish physician Sir James Young Simpson, marking a defining moment in the history of anesthesia. They held the prestigious title of Chemists and Druggists in Ordinary to Queen Victoria (supplying medicine to Balmoral) from 1862 to 1875, and became a key supplier of chloroform to military and medical institutions during major wars.

The base is in very good condition with a solid transfer in tact, nice crazing, and no chips or cracks. The lid is in very good condition.

This wonderfully charming pot is a great choice to enhance your advertising pot collection or the perfect piece to start your new collection.

Measures: 2” diameter x 1 1/4” tall

Please consider the images as the best part of my description.

Most pots have some level of crazing , may have spots of discoloration, light hairline cracks and minor chips and fleabites that only add to its character and do not detract from its display value. These are expected due to age, use and let’s not forget they were often buried for decades before being dug up and rescued.
