I am offering this George Painter Turtle soup crock, Purveyor to H.R.H. the Prince of Wales. It has a very cool Royal raised crest, with a small section on the upper left missing. The address is The Ship & Turtle Tavern 1301 Leadenhall St, 3 Pt. The crock is in overall very good condition with only one chip near the top on the back side, and no cracks. The lid is in good condition, but does have some chips as reflected in the pictures. Please look at all the pictures for your best description. This is really a unique piece that would look great in your kitchen or displayed in your collection.

Measures 7 1/2” tall x 5” diameter

These classic English storage containers date from the late 1800’s. Most were a staple in the everyday persons kitchen as it was the packaging used before plastics.

Most pots have some level of crazing, may have spots of discoloration, light hairline cracks and minor chips and fleabites that should be considered patina, additions to character and do not detract from its display value. These are expected due to age, use and let’s not forget they were often buried for decades before being dug up and rescued.

This is an authentic antique advertising pot sourced during my recent buying trip to England. I have been sourcing these wonderful antique pots for over 12 years from sources who are actually digging them up in ancient rubbish sites all over England. I purchased my first antique Advertising pot when my husband and I had the wonderful opportunity to live in England in the 1980’s. Our daughter was born there and we enjoyed living in England so much we often went back to visit after returning to the US.

Interestingly, this same daughter’s husbands job moved them to London were we have enjoyed visiting our grandchildren and traveling the countryside antiquing.

On our many visits we have became friends with many of the “diggers” excavating the ancient dumpsites all over the UK and now source thousands of pots top down from them every year. I still love the charm they add to every room they are placed in.

Returns are not acceptable on these rare authentic pieces but please contact if you have any questions.
