In the 19th and early 20th centuries, “invalid jelly” referred to a type of nutritious, gelatinous food prepared for people who were ill or recovering — referred to then as “invalids.” It was often made from calves’ feet, rich in natural gelatin, and considered nourishing and restorative. These jellies were a staple in Victorian and Edwardian diets for the sick and elderly, before the advent of modern dietary supplements.
This pot is in excellent clean condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. Displays beautifully. The images are the best representation of this listing. A great rare piece.
Measures Approximately: 3” tall x 3” diameter
Most pots have some level of crazing, may have spots of discoloration, light hairline cracks and minor chips and fleabites that only add to its character and do not detract from its display value. These are expected due to age, use and let’s not forget they were often buried for decades before being dug up and rescued.
