Antique Ancient Stoneware Ginger Jar – Large – c. 1880

$42.00

Measures Approximately 5 ¼” tall x 4 ¼” at the base, 2″ mouth – 6″ at its widest part

Listed is beautiful ancient larger sized Ginger Jar. This beautiful handmade jar is in good antique condition with lovely gray tones with blue striping. Crazing and other age related marks with a beautiful shiny gloss finish still apparent.  Wonderful piece with no chips or cracks.

Ginger jars are depicted by their high-shoulders, rounded shapes, small mouths, and domed lids. Although they were originally used to store and transport spices, hence their name, the containers (which typically don’t include handles) have been used primarily as decorative objects since the 19th century.

Please consider the images as your best description for all of my items.

Pot may contain crazing, spots of discoloration, hairline cracks and minor chips and fleabites that only add to its character and do not detract from its display value.  These are expected due to age, use and being buried for decades and then being dug up and rescued.

I offer substantial savings in shipping costs when multiple items are combined into one package. I will credit any overpayment of postage charged to you after finding the best shipping option.
