other Rare Batty and Heinz Pieces
Extremely Rare Batty’s Patent Mustard Pot. Made of white ironstone pottery with decorative under glaze black transfer advertising . Very clean piece, excellent overall condition with a small firing blemish on the backside. ‘BATTY’S PATENT MUSTARD, PREPARED AT THEIR WHOLESALE & PICKLE WAREHOUSE’. 15 & 16 PAVEMENT FINSBURY, LONDON. Has beautiful graphics on both sides as pictured.
The shoulder of the pot is decorated with lovely bold cross shaded lettering, with the face of one side featuring the Royal Warrant armorial and Finsbury Pavement address, and their belted crown topped trademark on the opposing side.
Batty’s was founded in 1824 and purchased by the Hienz Co. when they entered the British Market in 1905! Of course Heinz is still in business today.
Most pots have some level of crazing, may have spots of discoloration, light hairline cracks and minor chips and fleabites that should be considered patina, additions to character and do not detract from its display value. These are expected due to age, use and let’s not forget they were often buried for decades before being dug up and rescued.
I offer substantial savings in shipping costs when multiple items are combined into one package. I will credit any overpayment of postage charged to you after finding the best shipping option.
