Cod Liver Oil
with Malt Extract
Endorsed by the Medical Profession
COD Liver Oil was a popular health tonic in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It was prized for its high content of vitamins A and D, thought to strengthen bones and prevent rickets. Malt extract was added both as a sweetener and as an additional “nutritive” (energy-giving) component. Products like this were heavily marketed as restorative tonics for children, invalids, and the elderly.
Measures approximately: 4 1/2” tall x 2 1/4” diameter
The pot is good age appropriate condition. The green transfer is showing some fade and there is significant crazing, both giving very interesting character to this pot. There are no chips or cracks and there is a control stamp on the bottom. Please view the images as your best description of this pot.
Most pots have some level of crazing, may have spots of discoloration, light hairline cracks and minor chips and fleabites that should be considered patina, additions to character and do not detract from its display value. These are expected due to age, use and were often buried for decades before being dug up and rescued.
