This is a listing for one (1) Crofton’s Stores Antique English Advertising Pot.  I will select one pot from my current inventory.

Crofton Stores Newcastle…..The trade directories of the time refer to ‘Crofton’s Stores – Grocery, Italian Warehousemen and Wine and Spirits Merchants’. The term ‘Italian Warehousemen’ isn’t one we use today but in the nineteenth century, it was a common term for a specialist grocery shop that stocked items such as: oils, pickles, fruits and pasta. We’d probably call it a ‘posh deli’!

Crofton’s was by this time a small chain. The first shop in Blackett Street was opened by Zechariah Crofton, a Morpeth man. Crofton died in 1866 but the business he created continued to expand. By 1898, it was owned by Robert Owen Blayney, the son of Arthur Blayney, a Welsh grocer who as early as 1841 had himself employed 9 men.

This charming pot is a great addition to your Antique English Advertising Pot collection.

The other items in photos are for display only please use for ideas for displaying in your home.  This antique pot was curated during my travels to England’s Famous Antique Markets while visiting my daughter and her family in London. Please consider the images as the best part of my description.

Most pots have some level of crazing, may have spots of discoloration, light hairline cracks and minor chips and fleabites that should be considered patina, additions to character and do not detract from its display value.  These are expected due to age, use and let’s not forget they were often buried for decades before being dug up and rescued.

I offer substantial savings in shipping costs when multiple items are combined into one package.   I will credit any overpayment of postage charged to you after finding the best shipping option.
