A wonderful Victorian Eclipse Tea Pot Stand manufactured by Deykin & Sons of Birmingham, England, one of the leading electroplating firms of the late 19th century.
This antique tea stand features a transfer-printed illustration on the back titled “Miss Tox Introduces the Party,” a scene from Charles Dickens’ Dombey and Son, originally illustrated by Hablot Knight Browne (“Phiz”). The front is fully marked with Deykin & Sons’ detailed advertising backstamp, including their “Eclipse Tea Pot Stand” branding and “Established 1781.”
Originally designed to protect fine furniture from the heat and moisture of a teapot, this piece is equally attractive today as a display item for lovers of Victorian décor, Dickens memorabilia, or English silverplate.
Measures Approx 7” diameter
This c. 1890 stand is in very good age appropriate condition. It has one thin hairline on the left side. Please view the images as the best description of this plate.
This is an authentic antique advertising piece sourced during my recent buying trip to England. I have been sourcing these wonderful antiques for over 12 years from friends who are actually digging them up in ancient rubbish sites all over England. I purchased my first antique Advertising pot when my husband and I had the exciting opportunity to live in England in the 1980’s. Our daughter was born there and we enjoyed living in England so much we often went back to visit after returning to the US.
On our many visits we have became friends with many of the “diggers” excavating the ancient dumpsites all over the UK and now source thousands of pots from them every year. I still love the charm they add to every room they are placed in.
Returns are not accepted on these rare authentic pieces but please contact if you have any questions.
