A wonderful antique English stoneware stout bottle featuring striking black transfer-printed advertising for Richard Murray’s Golden Malt & Hop Nourishing Stout, Newcastle, England.

Dating to the late Victorian or early Edwardian period, circa 1890–1910, this bottle features a beautiful two-tone tan and cream glaze, rounded shoulders, a narrow neck, and a distinctive oval advertising label with a portrait at its center.

The detailed lettering includes the historic locations of Consett, Blackhill, Jarrow, Spennymoor, and Newcastle, making this a fascinating piece of British brewing and advertising history.

The bottle is in very good condition with a strong label, and one scratch line on the left side as shown.

Measures Approximately – 8”Tall x 2 1/2” diameter at base

This charming bottle is a great neutral addition to your Antique English Advertising Pot collection. Please study the images as they represent the exact pot you will receive.

Most pots have some level of crazing, may have spots of discoloration, light hairline cracks and minor chips and fleabites that should be considered patina, additions to character and do not detract from its display value. These are expected due to age as they were often buried for decades before being dug up and rescued.

This is an authentic antique advertising pot sourced during my recent buying trip to England. I have been sourcing these wonderful antique pots for over 12 years from sources who are actually digging them up in ancient rubbish sites all over England. I purchased my first antique Advertising pot when my husband and I had the wonderful opportunity to live in England in the 1980’s. Our daughter was born there and we enjoyed living in England so much we often went back to visit after returning to the US.

Interestingly, this same daughter’s husbands job moved them to London were we have enjoyed visiting our grandchildren and traveling the countryside antiquing.

On our many visits we have became friends with many of the “diggers” excavating the ancient dumpsites all over the UK and now source thousands of pots from them every year. I still love the charm they add to every room they are placed in.

Returns are not accepted on these rare authentic pieces but please contact if you have any questions.
