Squire & Sons Ltd. was founded in the early 19th century by the Squire family, who were respected pharmaceutical chemists. They became known as “The King’s Chemists”, a royal appointment indicating they supplied medicines to the British royal household. Their flagship premises were at 413 Oxford Street, London W. The company manufactured and sold pharmaceuticals, toiletries, cold creams, ointments, and cosmetic preparations.
This pot is in good condition with great crazing and a lot of colored staining from years of burial, character filled and shows well. There are some minor chips on the inside rim and a few small
ones on the bottom. Please consider the images as the best part of my description.
Measures: 1 3/4” tall and 3 1/4” diameter
Most pots have some level of crazing, may have spots of discoloration, light hairline cracks and minor chips and fleabites that should be considered patina, additions to character and do not detract from its display value. These are expected due to age, use and let’s not forget they were often buried for decades before being dug up and rescued.
