A wonderful antique Clarke’s Pyramid“Fairy” night-light holder, an unusual piece of early English advertising.
This white glazed ceramic night-light holder is decorated with black transfer-printed advertising for Clarke’s Patent Pyramid Night Lights, including the Pyramid “Fairy” trade mark and a striking Royal Arms-style crest with lion and unicorn.
Around the upper section is the period advertising verse:
“When nights are dark then think of Clarke,
Who’s hit the mark precisely,
For his night-lights create light-nights
In which you see quite nicely.”
Additional advertising states “Clarke’s Patent Pyramid Night Lights 9 Hours” and indicates that Clarke’s lights were the appropriate lights for these lamps.
The piece has an integrated circular side handle and a shaped upper rim designed as part of the original night-light arrangement.
This ceramic food warmer is designed to gently keep food warm at the table using a small night light candle (called a “Fairy Light”) that would sit underneath this warmer. The gentle heat from the candle would keep the contents warm.
This pot is in very good condition with aome scattered age spots and no chips or cracks. Please view all the images for a full view of the pot you will receive.

This is an authentic antique advertising pot sourced during my recent buying trip to England. I have been sourcing these wonderful antique pots for over 12 years from sources who are actually digging them up in ancient rubbish sites all over England. I purchased my first antique Advertising pot when my husband and I had the wonderful opportunity to live in England in the 1980’s. Our daughter was born there and we enjoyed living in England so much we often went back to visit after returning to the US.
On our many visits we have became friends with many of the “diggers” excavating the ancient dumpsites all over the UK and now source thousands of pots from them every year. I still love the charm they add to every room they are placed in.
