This antique cream pot is an advertising vessel from the Nidderdale Creameries, located in Strawberry Dale, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. The pot is very rare with a spout and handle. It was produced to hold and sell fresh cream during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, when dairy products were commonly distributed in reusable stoneware containers.

Nidderdale Creameries operated in the heart of the Nidderdale Valley, an area renowned for its rich pastureland and high-quality dairy farming. Strawberry Dale, on the outskirts of Harrogate, served as a collection and distribution center where milk and cream from local farms were processed and sold.

The creamery became known for producing fresh cream, butter, and milk for customers throughout Yorkshire during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Before disposable packaging, dairies supplied cream in durable stoneware jars like this one. Customers often returned the containers to be cleaned, sterilized, and refilled, making them an early example of reusable food packaging.

The black transfer-printed shield teads:

“PURE FRESH CREAM
FROM THE
NIDDERDALE CREAMERIES
STRAWBERRY DALE, RD.
HARROGATE.”

The cow illustration emphasized the quality and freshness of the dairy products.
This rare pot is in great, clean condition with a strong black transfer, minor age spots, and no chips or cracks. Great addition with the pour spout and handle to your Antique Advertising collection. Please view the pictures for the best description of this pot.

Measures approximately: 3 3/4″ tall x 2 1/2 ” diameter at widest point – 1 1/2″ at base 1 1/2″ mouth opening

These are authentic antique advertising pots sourced during my recent buying trip to England. I have been sourcing these wonderful antique pots for over 12 years from friends who are actually digging them up in ancient rubbish sites all over England. I purchased my first antique Advertising pot when my husband and I had the wonderful opportunity to live in England in the 1980’s. Our daughter was born there and we enjoyed living in England so much we often went back to visit after returning to the US.

Interestingly, this same daughter’s husbands job moved them to London were we have enjoyed visiting our grandchildren and doing serious antiquing.

On our many visits we have became friends with many of the “diggers” excavating the ancient dumpsites all over the UK and now source thousands of pots from them every year. I still love the charm they add to every room they are placed in.

Please study all images as they are the best representation of the actual item you will receive. These are scarce and getting harder and harder to source.

Returns are not accepted on these rare authentic pieces but please contact if you have any questions.
